Update #7 - More progress!

4/1/2025

Picture
Dear Hope Community,
We are pleased to share an exciting update on the progress of our high school construction project! As we continue working toward completing this new and improved space for our students, we want to inform you about our plans for the upcoming school year.

The projected completion date for Phase I is December 2025.  Our goal is to move into the new high school building by the end of Christmas Break.  We plan to hold classes for the second semester of the 2025-2026 school year in the new building.  We are excited for our students and teachers to experience the modern, spacious classrooms and facilities designed with their needs in mind.  The new space will provide 22 classrooms, enough space to accommodate the micro campus, the humanities building, and the west portables!

Also included in Phase I is an outdoor amphitheatre, commons area, cafeteria, elevated stage, resource center, and administrative offices.

The parking lot and drop-off/pick-up areas at the new high school will be completed and ready for use by the start of the 2025-2026 school year in August. As a result, we will not be providing the shuttle service next year.

Until then, we will continue utilizing our micro campus through the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year. Once Phase I of the new high school is complete, those classes will transition into the new building, and the micro campus will no longer be in use.

Please keep in mind that construction plans and timelines can sometimes change due to unforeseen circumstances. While this is our expected timeline and goal for the dates mentioned above, we will continue to keep you updated on any significant changes.

We deeply appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the construction process. We know the waiting period hasn’t always been easy, but we believe the new high school space will be well worth it. The new facility will provide an inspiring environment for our students to thrive and grow.

Thank you for your continued support. We can’t wait to welcome our students into the new space and share in this exciting milestone together!

~Terry L. Heisey

Update #5 The Importance of Foundation

10/22/2024

Last week, Mr. Heisey brought the leadership to the first wall of the new high school and talked about importance of the foundation, from a construction and spiritual perspective. From there, they prayed and write scriptures on the wall.

Construction Update #4

8/5/2024

1. There will be work on Palomas as well as the main water line on Louisiana this week, both causing temporary disruptions.
2. The stairs that were on the east side of the gym will be relocated this week to the south side of the Cardio Room for emergency exit only.
3. The temporary fence by the MPB will be relocated today to allow access for students and staff/parents/coaches to the MPB from the north double doors and the west doors.  (this will remain in place for the remainder of the project.
4. Excavation for the building should be finished up this week and digging for footings will begin.
5. There will be a new exit door cut into the north side of the gym to give an additional emergency exit because the east single door from the gym will be closed off.
6. Let's all do the best we can to communicate, communicate, communicate; please pass this information on to those who need it.

Construction Update #3

7/15/2024

Picture
  1. Most of the demo work has been completed.  (The sheds remain, but will be removed)
  2. Trenching and installing the storm/sewer drain between the MPB and the Humanities is happening this week.
  3. Most of the asphalt has been removed.
  4. The trenching and installation of the fire hydrant line will happen early next summer instead of before school starts.  (this was the trench in front of the meeting room/English rooms)
  5. The last of the trees that need to be cut down is happening this week.
  6. Please continue to pray for the continued protection of workers and for the project to stay on schedule!  :)

Construction Update #2

6/7/2024

  1. Advancement is working on getting a time-lapse camera for the duration of the project.  Hopefully, we can get it mounted an operation in the next couple of weeks.
  2. We did have one break-in at the meeting room this week, (they stole all the candy except the twix) and one attempted break-in to the meeting room the next night.  We also had an abandoned car parked south of the MPB.  (I know, weird huh?)  We have called APD and will be getting it towed.
  3. We now have a portable restroom on site in case of an emergency water shut off.
  4. The HS MPB will be closed starting on Monday, June 17.  Paul anticipates that it will be closed for approximately one month.  The MPB is not to be used for any reason.  (Jim and Kathy, please let the coaches know) (Connie, please let Kathy know)  Thank you!
  5. Construction Fencing will be going up on Thursday, June 13.
  6. They will be digging drainage and fire hydrant lines between the Humanities and MPB and from the fire hydrant by the English portables in front of the little chapel, meeting room, etc.,   to the commons area.
  7. The high school parking lot is closed and no vehicles should be parked there.

Construction Update #1

5/30/2024

We are excited to announce that construction has begun!  I will be giving necessary updates via email regarding construction.  As I mentioned previously, please be ready to "pivot" when necessary.  We are hoping that most of the "inconveniences" will be this summer when school is not in session.  If you have any questions, please let me know.
  1. Electric service has been disconnected to the rooms/buildings to be demoed.
  2. Demolition of buildings and parking lot will begin on Monday, June 3.
  3. For safety reasons, the gas will be shut off to the high school campus next week at some point.  That means there will be no hot water.  I do not know how long we will be without gas.
  4. They will do all they can to keep the water on throughout construction.  However, there will be times when they might hit a water line (unscheduled) or there is a scheduled shut-off this summer and there will be no water for some time.  Realizing that we have summer sports camps planned throughout the summer, we will be leasing a portable bathroom (trailer) which will be located in the staff parking lot.  This can be used if the water is shut off and children (or adults) need to use the bathroom.  We plan on having it available for the month of June and possibly July.
  5. The grass area on the east and west side of the bridge is not to be used during the construction period this summer.
